A Time For Every Purpose

Feature Film Keyart

Designing character-driven emotional movie keyart requires careful consideration of the film's themes, characters, and overall tone. I set out to understand the story, the character's motivations, and the film's intended audience.

Emotional Tone

The first step in the design process was analyzing the film's content and identifying the critical characters featured in the artwork. I took into consideration the film's emotional tone and the overall message the keyart should convey. Once the characters and emotional tone were identified, I began developing the visual concepts the producers wanted.

Symbolism and Color

I used symbolism to convey the film's themes and to create a deeper emotional connection with the viewer. For example, the use of specific colors, red and blue, represented different emotions and the tension experienced by the characters central to the film's message.

Compositional Balance

The artwork's composition was carefully considered, with attention paid to the placement of the characters, their expressions, and the use of color and typography. I chose close-ups of the film's main characters to create an emotional connection with the viewer. The typography was legible and complemented the overall design, with attention paid to the font style, size, and placement.
